Once you are well settled in the
accommodation of your liking, go out and do these things for maximum fun.
1. Take a Stroll on Four Mile Beach
The wide sand deck bordered by
turquoise waters make the four mile beach a must visit. It is a peaceful place
away from urban busy life, and it is family friendly. Taking a stroll down this
beach may be one of the most memorable parts of your holiday. After all, isn’t
a beach what comes to mind when the word holiday is mentioned?
2. Visit the Great Barrier Reef.
You have the option to snorkel
alongside the fish or see the reef from the deck of a boat, but make sure you
don’t leave Port Douglas before visiting this spectacular natural wonder. The
reef is home to one of 1,500 species of dolphins, rays, sea turtles and fish.
It also has over 400 species of coral.
3. Take in the Panoramic view from Flagstaff Hill
Flagstaff hill is a strategic
point to take in the panoramic view that is Port Doulas. Bounded by water from
three points, the Port looks like a view from a postcard, the perfect picture
to update to your social media to let (still working ) friends know what you
are up to!
4. Visit the art galleries
There are numerous art galleries
in Macrossan Street. They feature local artists with works in different styles.
Here you can purchase a piece of art to remind you of the fantastic time you
had in Port Douglas.
5. Go shopping
A holiday is not complete without
shopping in the local markets. Luckily, most of Port Douglas accommodation is
situated within walking distance of the local markets. Anzac park is the place
to be on Sunday morning, when local traders set up open-air markets to display
their wares. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also in plenty. Be sure to carry
home with you a few items that are unique to Port Douglas as souvenirs for your
friends who were not lucky enough to visit this wonderful region.
There is a certain level of experiencing a place
that can only be reached from firsthand experience. No amount of describing can
bring Port Douglas to live the way a personal experience with the activities
available on the Port can. Visit the Port in person to engage all the
senses-touch, smell, sight, hearing and tasting to fully understand what the
holiday destination is all about.
